A Quick Housekeeping Note
A friendly reminder not to respond to emails asking for gift cards or help from the rector or any staff member at the church. Some received such emails this morning. These are phishing attempts. Emails from the rector only come from the "@stjamesscardale.org" account, and same goes for the rest of the staff. We think we know and have fixed the origin of the problem, but always let us know if something suspicious appears in your inbox or via text. |

In Thanks for God's Blessings: 2025 Annual AppealOur 2025 Annual Appeal is Underway! Episcopal churches like ours are supported by the generous, annual pledges of those who attend our services. Everything you enjoy at St. James--worship, music, pastoral care, programs for kids and adults, outreach--happens because of your generosity and commitment. Throughout the month of November, you'll receive materials in the mail about the Appeal. You'll also receive emails with these same materials, and reminding you to pledge. The co-chairs, Barbara Palmer and Jim Hallowell, along with Mother Storm, are here to answer any questions, especially our newer members. Thank you for taking the time to learn about the needs of our parish, and for your generosity! For more infomation visit:

Annual Appeal Stories
One of the best parts of our annual appeal is hearing from parishioners about why they give to St. James. See our Appeal playlist on Youtube, where we'll keep adding stories in the weeks to come. So far, you can hear from Tom Wolfe, vestry member, treasurer, and father of two boys, and Sherin Frank, mother of three little ones, whom you may know as "the woman hovering in the kids corner trying to keep up with my three kids during church." :) Thank you to them for sharing their stories! Telling the Good NewsA Sermon for the Sunday after the Election + Mo. Storm Our duty as Christians is to protect the poor and the vulnerable, to speak out against individuals and institutions that take advantage of those without power to fend for themselves. I trust that everyone here, however you voted last week, was guided by our absolutely clear and fundamental Christian commitment to protect the weak and the powerless among us. Before anything else, that’s what this reading is about. That’s the good news: the call to defend and protect and to create a world where all can walk God’s light and love, because that’s what we’re made for...

175th Anniversary LecturesMissed last Sunday's Veterans' Day lecture? View it on our Youtube Page All our anniversary lectures are streamed and posted on Youtube for those who were unable to make it. Thank you to Bill Stump fro his excellent lecture on some of the veterans in our graveyard. The week before that, Russell Crane of our St. James History Committee spoke to us about St. James the Less in the 1860s-1880s, when the Rev. Olssen helped guide the parish through the Civil War era (among other, much lesser, controversies). Our next lecture is on Sunday, December 8th, when Toni Lewis will discuss significant events at the beginning of the 20th Century which shaped our parish.
