Renew & Revitalize Task Force UpdateBy Mother Storm + Tuesday October 1 And we're off -- and I mean, really off! Since last week's email, we've reviewed and signed the contract with Urban Ecosystems and Griggs and Davis Engineers, following the research and recommendation of the Task Force, and formally approved by the vestry last week. Good questions were asked, lawyers consulted, and you can be sure the leadership is deserving of your trust. When you come to church on Sunday, you'll start noticing mysterious markings in areas around the parking lot--mysterious, that is, unless you read these emails, where we'll do our best to explain everything you notice going on out there. Currently, 3 zones in the parking lot are marked out where temporary trenches will be dug. This is to check the soil percolation and rock beneath various sections of the parking lot. The results will help the engineer determine how many drywells we'll need to sufficently keep water away from our building and graveyard. Some years ago, I remember walking around the exterior of our building with the then-Property Manager of the Diocese of New York. He put his hand against the building about six feet from the ground and said, "It's here on down that you have to worry about." Well, better than worrying about it is doing something about it--and we are! Now a request from all of you: We're going to start reaching out soon to contractors, and would like to solicit names from all of you. Is there anyone you've worked with and would recommend? If so, please let us know by responding directly to this email. Every suggestion we receive will be passed along to the R&R Task Force. For more infomation visit:
