Organ ConcertDavid Hurd, organ + Sunday, May 19 at 3 pm We are delighted to welcome David Hurd to St. James the Less for the final concert of this year's series. Dr. Hurd is recognized as one of the foremost concert organists and sacred music composers in the United States, as well as for his innovative, enthralling, and ever-evolving improvistional abilities. "He shapes music with the structural insight of a composer and executes it with the boldness of an improviser . . . Hurd played with incisive rhythmic drive and imagination." (The Boston Globe) The organ at St. James the Less was built by the Klais Organ Company (Bonn, Germany) in 2017, and will be a perfect instrument to highlight Dr. Hurd's musicality and artistry. A suggested donation of $30 is greatly appreciated. Join us after the concert for a lovely wine and cheese reception, hosted by the Music Guild. For more infomation visit:

Capital Campaign Weekly UpdateWhat's Next: A Note from Mo. Storm, and More Our weekly Tuesday campaign updates will continue, now containing updates on work being discussed (and soon, carried out), pictures, and also news on our fundraising as it continues into this next phase and our overall number increases. We'll also include, as in this week's email, occasional anecdotes from our archives on past projects and campaigns--as in the 1938 Parish Messenger's complicated parking instructions for Easter Day. Sound familiar? Finally, continue to look for names of those who've given. Names we've added since the prior list was published will be boldfaced. The work continues! For more infomation visit:

Friends and Families: Come to a Garden BlessingThursday, May 23 at 5:30 pm A parishioner and mom of St. James asked Mother Storm to bless her garden, so we're making an event of it! All are welcome. Families, bring your kids. We'll do the short blessing over the flowerbeds, and eat pizza afterwards while the kids run around. Mo. Storm will also say a few words about this tradition, which goes back centuries. Click below to let us know you're coming so we can order enough pizza and send you the address. Read or Listen to a Sunday SermonLast Sunday's Sermon: "Nine Days" Read or listen to Mo. Storm's sermon for Ascensiontide, Mother's Day, and Holy Communion Sunday. Reminding us that the nine-day period of waiting and praying is the basis for the practice of saying the "novena," she talks more generally about prayer and the importance of making space for it in our lives--even (especially!) if you're a busy mother! Are You a Pledging Member of St. James?
We are so thankful for each and every pledge made to St. James. Ongoing financial contributions from parishioners are how Episcopal churches operate. If you take advantage of anything in the church--worship services, classes for kids and adults, outreach programs, fellowship, anything at all--please make a pledge to help us sustain these programs. The annual average pledge at St. James is approx $3500.00. By the numbers, it costs $6000.00 per family to do everything we do. Click the picture above to make a pledge. It's easy and secure. You'll receive a response from the office and the rector. Thank you! For more infomation visit: https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/2227516
