"I Will Let Down the Net If You Say So"Last Sunday's Sermon, by Mo. Eliza "Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets." This verse in the gospel of Luke 5 stands out clearly and makes the story not so much about the fish that the disciples miraculously caught but also about "listening, trusting, and obeying." Most of us would be reluctant to leave everything behind, including our job or family, to follow someone we know or hardly knew. That's what we teach our children, right? However, Luke's narrative is symbolic and full of spiritual meanings. You very often hear this story expressed as "a calling." Anniversary Lecture Series: The Largest Church in Westchester, 1920s-1940sSunday, March 9 at 11:30 am The 1920s-1940s brought tremendous change to St. James the Less. Rapidly increasing membership with the addition of the the commuter rail necessitated more space for our growing congregation. The additions of the Great Hall, church transepts and chancel under the leadership of Dudley Stroup and Harry Price made St. James more recognizably the church it is today. Scarsdale was "ground zero" for Episcopalianism, making us, for a time, the largest church in Westchester county. Parishioner Russell Grant guides us through this eventful period of our history. Pilgrimage to Turkey: Summer 2026Miss Our Recent Meeting? Fill Out the Form Below & We'll Contact You According to the Acts of the Apostles, Paul’s conversion to Christianity took place in a profound, life-changing experience on the road to Damascus. We embark on an unforgettable journey to retrace the footsteps of Paul through Turkey and Greece to discover firsthand the sights, sounds, and feelings that he may have had as he taught about the life and works of Jesus Christ. We’ll see the seven churches of Revelation “which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” As we walk where Paul walked, perhaps we too will have profound, life-changing experiences on ‘the roads’ of these ancient lands.
