St. James in the News
Check out the piece about us in Scarsdale10583.com. It covers parts of Russell Grant's lecture from 2 weeks ago, and the period of rapid expansion and political engagement in the parish, especially among the clergy. And remember to check out the video of Russell's lecture here. Our next lecture, covering St. James the Less in the 1960s and the "Holly Ball Affair" will take place on Sunday April 6, led by John McNally. Don't miss it!

Spiritual ThreadsNext Thursday 27 & Thursday April 3, 7:30 - 9 pm “For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13) Lent is an excellent time to begin or renew a spiritual practice. A time to stop, reflect on our own lives. Needlework has long been more than just a craft – it’s a thread that weaves us together in fellowship. Whether gathered in living rooms, community centers, or coffee shops, women have used needlework circles as a space for connection, storytelling, and shared wisdom. In these gatherings, knowledge is passed down, encouragement is exchanged, and friendships are stitched together, just like the fiber in Join us for three Thursday evenings in Lent when we will gather to knit, crochet, quilt, needlepoint and explore our spirituality and develop new friendships. Civil Rights Pilgrimage
Interested in taking an intergenerational Civil Rights pilgrimage to Georgia and Alabama? About twenty parishioners made the trip three years ago, and it was an incredible time. We'll visit Ebenezer Baptist Church, to Equal Justice Initiative Museum, walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, meet people who were part of the Civil Rights movement in the 60s, and get to know each other on this meaningful tour of the south. The pilgrimage is led by Etgar 36 Tours, and the cost per person is ~1000.00, depending on the size of the family (and shared hotel rooms). It's worth every penny. If kids (7th grade and up) attend, we have scholarships available and fundraising opportunities. Complete the short inquiry form below, and Mo. Storm will reach out with more information. There are TWO DATES available: October 12, 13 & 14, and February 15, 16 & 17 (both Sun-Tues). Specify on the inquiry form which date you prefer. We need 20 people to make it happen, so please let us know if you're interested as soon as possible! For more infomation visit:

Last Sunday's Sermon"Steadfast Faith" by Mo. Eliza In last Sunday's sermon, Mother Eliza preached on Jesus' famous lament over Jerusalem, the city that "kills the prophets," and his bold but risky words for the religious leaders in those final days of his life. Jesus likely felt a combination of courage, determination, and perhaps righteous indignation. He was resolute in his mission and was not swayed by threats or warnings, even from a ruler like Herod. His response shows no fear, but instead a deep confidence in God's plan for him and his unwavering commitment to fulfill his purpose. Parishioners Reflect on the BeatitudesRe-printed from last Tuesday's Member Email In this week's reflection, parishioner Donna Robertson reminds us that it's through striving, not perfection or attainment, that we find peace in God. It's a lovely, thoughtful reflection on the fourth beatitude: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Thank you for sharing, Donna!
